Kids and Teens Classes

Participants must be 9 or older.

Jessica Throwing on the Potter's Wheel Designed for mature kids and young teens who want to experience clay, try out the potters wheel, and learn to express themselves. Decoration on tiles will also be explored.

Come work in a real pottery studio environment!

This class includes an introduction to the potter's wheel, focusing on wedging, shaping, trimming, glazing techniques, and studio safety. Aesthetics will be discussed and other studio techniques may be explored.

Glazing and surface decoration will round out the entire process.

No prior experience is required. Demonstrations, group discussions and one-to-one attention will be given to each student.

Jessica Bull, now 22, has been teaching kids, teens, and adults for six years now. She has a good depth of experience, wonderful patience and teaching skills, and has a lot of fun with her students. Everybody loves her !

Includes 25 lbs. clay, class glaze, and oxidation firing.
Tools are extra, if you need them. A basic kit costs $17.95

We can design private lessons or group workshops tailored to your specific needs. Please call Ed at 703-750-9437 or email him at oneibull@msn.com to make arrangements.

If you can't take the entire class, please let us know about your workshop ideas. We've found that a good three hours of instruction on the wheel can work well, and trimming could be done the following week or a few days later. This should also take two or three hours. Glazing can be accomplished quickly or we can glaze it for you.

We can also set up a one day Try It for kids and teens if a small group, no larger than six, can be put together. This would be using the potters wheel but not include trimming. Arrangements can be made for us to trim and glaze for you. We would have to work around our regular class schedules for available dates and times. Email for details.
